Gaskets Were Meant to be Waterjet
The gaskets, also known as mechanical seals, we manufacture at MILCO can be made from any material, even if it flexes similarly to rubber. Waterjet cutting is perfect for manufacturing gaskets because the iteration process is relatively simple if you are still in the prototyping stage, and materials for this sort of application are readily available. Many material suppliers stock sheet metal or other sheet materials that are perfect for this application.

MILCO waterjet worked in collaboration with Parker Hannifin Composite Sealing Systems (CSS) – Seal and Gasket Division to help waterjet cut a special gasket. CSS offer world-class design and manufacturing of metal/elastomer, composite/elastomer, metal seals and custom sealing systems. They also specialize in high-integrity solutions to solve demanding sealing needs in a wide variety of markets and applications.
This particular gasket started as a print, was then converted to a .DXF file and then waterjet cut. After the cutting process it received deburring and got processed through our rigorous quality control inspection process.
